JOINING GLOSSIER PINK-HUED HYPE

I was reluctant at first to buy something Glossier. A lot of fuss but are these products made by beauty editors really that good? Later when I started to notice how extensive their rep program is (seeing it almost every day on Instagram in different profiles) I finally gave up. Pretty pink bottles and all the hype around Glossier brand was impossible to ignore anymore and during my next relaxed stroll down NYC SoHo streets, of course, I popped up in Glossier penthouse showroom.

My first intended shopping victims were supposed to be Boy Brow pomade, Milky Jelly Cleanser and Perfecting Skin Tint but being actually in the showroom completely changed my plans.

Glossier

Milky Cleanser I was ready to buy but then one of the assistants suggested to check out the texture. Surprisingly cleanser had such a strong rose fragrance (one of my least liked scents) I decided to buy Solution Exfoliating Skin Perfector instead. Later that day when I’ve read some positive reviews I regretted my poor purchasing decision, my picky nose, and damn roses.

Glossier Boy Brow

Grooming pomade Boy Brow

I think I black out every time I see brow products. Having tons of different gels apparently is not enough cause I still keep buying them again and again. It’s not like my brows are high maintenance or anything (muahaha! aren’t we all think that about ourselves?) but I like them properly set in one place for all day long and preferably with a bit of color to make them look fuller.

The first thing you need to know about Boy Brow that it lives up to its name. This a waxy pomade, not a gel we are mostly used to. The consistency is thick and creamy what makes it extremely buildable. You can add layer after layer shaping brows, giving them more texture and still look wholesome and totally natural. It’s very easy to use with the precise tapered applicator. Overall brows don’t feel heavy or overdone. Basically, Boy Brow is almost holy grail. Yep, almost…

My biggest disappointment came when I realized it’s just a pomade and it doesn’t provide a strong fix for my long brow hairs.

Glossier Solution

Solution Exfoliating Skin Perfector

I’ve been using chemical exfoliators on a daily basis for over 5 years now and some of them were in a form of toners (haven’t used physical face scrubs probably for the same amount of time). So Glossier Solution wasn’t a revelation or a miracle product for me. Sorry, guys.

Glossier Solution contains a nice formula with 10% blend of Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA), and Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA). Exfoliating Skin Perfector clears blackheads on my nose, slightly reduces the visibility of pores on cheeks and gives me overall glowy smooth skin. Though on my second week I noticed some dry patches but later on, the tightness in that areas disappeared. Guess it was weather/heating related after all. The bottle is only 4.4 fl oz / 130 ml but pump disperses Solution quite sparingly. It lasted for a rather long time (almost 6 months) using it 3-4 times a day. The instruction was to use it every day, but I felt like it’s too much for my skin.

If you still don’t use acid-based skin care Glossier Solution is a great way to start cause it’s so easy to incorporate into a daily routine and you’ll see results almost immediately.

I know my review of Glossier Solution doesn’t sound like other ecstatic reviews but actually, it’s a wonderful product. No wonder it is often goes sold out online. It’s just all my “wow!”, “my skin is so smooth!” and “I can’t stop touching it” were expressed approximately 5 years ago when I first added chemical exfoliant to my skin care.

Active Ingredient: Salicylic Acid 0.5%

Inactive Ingredient(s): Aqua/Water/Eau, Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Gluconolactone, Propanediol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Ethoxydiglycol, Magnesium Chloride, Sodium Hydroxide, Glycereth-7 Trimethyl Ether, Niacinamide, Betaine, Inositol, Citric Acid, Glycerin, Phytic Acid, Pentylene Glycol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Parfum/Fragrance, PEG-8, Acetic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide.

Altogether I liked my purchases and still exploring the Glossier range of products further. My next purchases where reformulated Perfecting Skin Tint and Lash Stick mascara. I also really liked their Cloud Paint blushes that just melt in the skin creating a very natural effect, Balm Dotcom salve could be used as a hand cream, cuticle cream, lip balm, and a handful other application. And of course their gorgeous eyeshadows Lidstar.
